Creative Partnerships
From September 2008 through to July 2011, HLC Secondary Phase will be going on an exciting Change School journey supported by Creative Partnerships, the government flagship programme for creativity in education.
Creative Partnerships fosters innovative, long-term partnerships between schools and creative professionals, including artists, performers, architects, multimedia developers and scientists. These partnerships inspire young people, teachers and creative professionals to challenge how they work and experiment with new ideas.
Young people develop the skills they need to perform well not only in exams and extra-curricular activities, but also in the workplace and wider society.
Our programme at HLC includes developing the creative use of digital media across all curriculum areas, a significant and personalized staff training programme and loads of inspiring new opportunities for our pupils and the local community.
The first year of our journey has involved creating a new learning environment in school called the “iMedia Lounge”, making a film lead by a focus group of Year 9 pupils about their local community featuring shop owners and other members of the Hadley community and the set up of the HLC Creative Challenge Team to lead the change school programme.
Future plans include working with a Gifted and Talented group of Year 10 pupils on pupil voice and engagement in learning, a Visual Arts Residency looking at digital media in art, a science fiction film with a group of year 7 pupils and supporting staff to develop creativity in the curriculum through CPD, conferences and visiting external practitioners.
