Welcome to the Secondary Phase

Paul Roberts, Headteacher (Secondary Phase)

Since its opening in 2006, Hadley Learning Community Secondary phase has blossomed into a successful school and a social hub for its community. The Secondary Phase sees students through years 7 - 11 and at maximum capacity can accommodate 1200 students. Children transfer from our own Primary and also from many other Primary Schools in the area. Therefore, there is a wonderful opportunity to see young people develop and learn from pre-school through to 16 years old.

The last 4 years have been exciting as the school’s standards have moved forward ever more confidently to provide an environment conducive to children’s learning. In the October 2010 Ofsted, the team commented on how outstanding our care, guidance and support was to all of our students. As a school we pride ourselves on developing and supporting all of our learners because we believe that a happy, safe child will be a successful one.

Our students take great pride in our superb facilities and work harmoniously together to produce a ‘can do’ culture of high expectations. Our children feel valued, encouraged, nurtured and therefore empowered to succeed in school and life beyond the classroom.

To support our drive for student success our teaching and learning is of the highest quality, with Ofsted grading over 80% of our lessons as good or outstanding. The high quality of teaching is complimented by a rich curriculum which caters for individual children’s needs. The school holds great value in a traditional curriculum of English, Maths, Science, ICT and Engineering, as part of our specialism, but has also developed its offer to learners in a wide range of courses. Modern courses that inspire today’s learners such as i-media, Business Enterprise and Public Services support existing courses like Languages, Sport and the Performing Arts. Student support through a fluid curriculum is further enhanced by our Teaching Assistants, who specialise in the support of both our SEN students and our Gifted and Talented Learners.

Our facilities have been developed to support such amazing opportunities for our learners. The accommodation for the secondary phase has been designed to establish curriculum areas for all subjects.
